About Us

Our history starts in 2015 when Alejandro, a Spanish graduate at Cardiff University started a 7aside league in Cardiff carrying the brand of the Mini Football leagues he earlier founded in Alemria, Spain. At the time, the Spanish community in the league offered a continental feel, differentiating the league from more traditional competitors in Cardiff, such as Gol and Powerleague who were not promoting 7aside football at the time as focus was on the more profitable 5aside instead.

Other communities such as Romanian, Italian, Greek, and Arab countries soon became residents in the league. In 2018, on the brink of collapse due lack of management left after Alejandro’s departure, Alex Turcu, a captain from one of the Romanian teams took over and revived the league by bringing new teams such as local companies and student teams from his corporate background.

Nevertheless, the new organisation was to be short-lived as the pandemic hit in 2020 closing all football in UK. However, when football restarted later in 2021, the Cardiff 7aside scene became even more popular than before with Alex and the supporting captains ensuring new organisational structures and Marketing strategies with the aim of community cohesion which helped bring new teams from Cardiff’s communities such as from African and Portuguese minorities as well as new student teams.

Whilst 2022 proved to be a good test year for the new community cohesive aimed organisation and strategy of the league in Cardiff, it also brought together new opportunities for the league which we tested to positive results in 2023.

An all-inclusive, community cohesive, team spirit fuelled league, meant that on Tuesday 7th July 2023, our new 7aside organisation had to be renamed to match the new look and feel to “ALL-IN 7ASIDE”. On the same day, Twitter rebranded to X, and as it was joked about on our social channels, they even copied the way we announced it, on our headquarters wall in Cardiff.

The newest addition to our system was the National Day Cups which we ran in the Summer and in the Winter of 2023 to promote community cohesion nationally as we invite teams from across Britain to participate. This became the Cardiff Monthly Day Cup format offering in 2024 with the first one on 14 January 2024 deemed a success by our captains.

We kept the holiday offering too as part of partnerships forged over the years with other 7aside leagues across the globe. This is where top teams get invited to participate in 7aside tournaments held abroad during the year.
